Das Motiv der Kreuzigung ist in unserem Kulturerbe tief verankert als Symbol für willkürliche Machtausübung und Folter, aber auch für Hingabe und Auflösung. In diesem Spannungsfeld ist die Installation SHUT ANIMA zu lesen. Wir sehen einen weiblichen Körper, der nurmehr virtuell in Video-Monitoren zu existieren scheint. Die vier Monitore sind in Kreuzform angeordnet, im Körperzentrum fließen die Stromkabel der Installation zusammen. Die Person zappelt im Videoloop, gefesselt in Raum und Zeit, einer potenziellen Auslöschung ausgesetzt. SHUT ANIMA evoziert eine dystopische Vision menschlicher Existenz in einer von künstlicher Intelligenz geprägten Zukunft. Die körperliche und seelische Intimität der Person ist den Blicken der Betrachtenden radikal ausgeliefert. Die Installation öffnet auch einen feministischen Interpretationsraum und verschiebt die traditionelle Lesart der Figur des gekreuzigten Jesus in Richtung eines erweiterten Geschlechterbegriffs durch Sichtbarmachung seiner ANIMA.
Le motif de la crucifixion est profondément enraciné dans notre patrimoine culturel comme symbole de l’exercice arbitraire du pouvoir et de la torture, mais aussi de dévouement et de dissolution. Dans ce champ de tension, l’installation SHUT ANIMA doit être lue. Nous voyons un corps féminin qui semble n’exister que virtuellement sur des moniteurs vidéo. Les quatre moniteurs sont disposés en forme de croix, les câbles électriques de l’installation convergent au centre du corps. La personne s’agite dans une boucle vidéo, prisonnière de l’espace et du temps, exposée à une potentiale annihilation. SHUT ANIMA évoque une vision dystopique de l’existence humaine dans un futur marqué par l’intelligence artificielle. L’intimité corporelle et psychique de la personne est radicalement exposée aux regards des spectateurs. L’installation ouvre également un espace d’interprétation féministe et déplace la lecture traditionnelle de la figure du Jésus crucifié vers une notion élargie du genre en rendant visible son ANIMA.
The motif of the crucifixion is deeply rooted in our cultural heritage as a symbol of arbitrary exercise of power and torture, but also of devotion and dissolution. It is within this field of tension that the installation SHUT ANIMA is to be understood. We see a female body that seems to exist only virtually on video monitors. The four monitors are arranged in a cross shape, with the power cables of the installation converging at the center of the body. The person wriggles in a video loop, bound in space and time, exposed to potential obliteration. SHUT ANIMA evokes a dystopian vision of human existence in a future shaped by artificial intelligence. The physical and emotional intimacy of the person is radically exposed to the gaze of the viewers. The installation also opens a feminist interpretive space and shifts the traditional reading of the figure of the crucified Jesus toward an expanded concept of gender by making his ANIMA visible.
